Taylor Twellman shares video inside Austin FC stadium

ESPN soccer broadcaster and retired MLS player Taylor Twellman temporarily sent MLS fans nationwide into a frenzy when he shared a video on social media of ongoing construction inside Austin FC stadium.

Reactions to the video, ranged from pure joy to absolute disgust—that’s Twitter for you! Since all you can do is laugh, we had some fun categorizing the Twitter comments:

  • Austin FC fans who absolutely love it
  • Crew fans who absolutely hate it
  • Other MLS fans that can’t wait for an away game in Austin
  • NE Revolution and NYCFC fans disgusted with their current stadiums
  • Various comments about a dirt pitch, MLS expansion, yada yada

Seriously though, this video is rare interior stadium footage.

With COVID-19, even local media hasn’t been inside these digs recently. Heck, Capital City Soccer hasn’t walked this hallowed ground—trust us we’ve already asked the powers that be.

On a technical video note, filming starts from the broadcast booth (West side) and the camera pans from the North end across the East sideline to the South end (Supporters section). The gap in the South end (without seats) appears to be some type of removable set-up for a concert stage.

General season tickets will go on sale soon and actually encompass most seats shown in the video, including the North and South ends, plus a majority of the East side seats.

What do you think of Austin FC stadium so far?
