Austin FC players react on social media to late goal for a tie in Portland

Austin FC’s Will Bruin, a familiar name in the PNW, secured a goal in stoppage time to draw 2-2 against the Timbers late Saturday night. In the dying minutes of the match, Owen Wolff sent a gorgeous cross with pace to Bruin’s noggin, who only had to redirect the ball a bit to get the equalizer for Austin β€” and tally his sixth career goal against Portland. It was ATX’s second comeback goal of the night. Defender Jon Gallagher sent in a header from a Rigoni cross in the 59th minute to level the match initially. Center back Julio Cascante returned to the Starting XI as captain after a devastating injury in the season-opener.

Next, Austin FC begins its U.S. Open Cup quest with a home match against USL-side New Mexico United on Wednesday, May 10, at Q2 Stadium.
