MLS releases schedule for Austin FC’s first two games, plus its inaugural home match. Just as we predicted, the club will play LAFC (4/17) at The Banc in its first ever match. A challenge to be sure. We picked Carlos Vela + crew as Numero Uno in our preseason Western Conference power ranking. It’s also the perfect opportunity to reunite club owners Matthew McConaughey and Will Ferrell for some pre-match rivalry banter a la 2006 Rose Bowl. Don’t screw it up MLS.
But wait…there’s more. Week Two is an away match against up-and-coming Colorado (4/24). Last but not least, Austin FC will play San Jose Quakes (6/19) in an epic home debut. Ready for a Silicon Hills vs. Silicon Valley Battle Royale on our home pitch?

Head Coach Josh Wolff had his first weekly press conference of training camp. While we heard Coach talk about instilling culture and teaching the club’s philosophy in preseason, Wolff’s words about star forward Cecilio Dominguez really grabbed us.
The Paraguayan designated player is an enigma. Wolff said he’s been looking at Cecilio in different positions in camp: as a winger that comes inside, a striker that comes down, and trying him as an attacking mid too. Besides his versatility, Wolff noted Cecilio’s ability to connect [passes] to Hoesen, Redes, Ring, and Fagundez. (Names in a starting XI lineup perchance?)

Austin FC President Andy Loughnane dropped some sweet Verde nuggets just for fans, covering blistering hot topics such as stadium construction completion (late March or early April), offsite projects (Bright Verde Way, traffic signals, sidewalks), and stadium tours for fans and partners (prior to the June game).
Mr. Andy also went down the rabbit hole on home opener attendance, basically explaining that it’s too early to make a call on stadium capacity, but they expect to announce it between May 19-24. Up to 5,000 single game tickets will be for sale, depending on the number of fans allowed.
