Diego Fagundez Signs

Today, Austin FC announced the signing of Diego Fagundez, who had previously spent his entire career with DC United. Fagundez has extensive league experience despite being only 25. We discuss his game as well as how he might fit into the current roster. Players also began arriving in Austin, while the club announced that Brady Scott was called up to the USMNT U-23 team in January camp.

Joe Corona Signs (with Houston)

On the last show, we discussed Houston’s selection of Joe Corona in the MLS Reentry draft. Corona officially signed with Houston this week. We talked about whether this signing shows ambition or a lack of ambition from Austin FC.

Down Goes Guarani

Guarani wrapped up the Clausura portion of their season with a loss in the league final. All three Austin FC signees (and potentially a fourth?) played in the match. With the season over, they should safely make their way to Austin soon.

MLS Declares Force Majeure – What Does That Mean?

On December 28, Major League Soccer informed the players’ association that it would be declaring force majeure and invalidating the current collective bargaining agreement. Today, the league provided its first offer to the players. We talk about how the players may respond and what it means for Austin FC starting on time.

MLS 101

In a new segment, we cover a few questions we had about the league, including conference alignment, new MLS stadiums and how CONCACAF Champions League works. We also encourage you to check out Total Soccer Show’s episode on allocation money while Landon convinces Jeremiah that it’s something we need to cover on the show. If you have suggestions for other topics, send Landon or Jeremiah a note on Twitter.

On the Next Two Episodes

Landon & Jeremiah will be back next week with more player and club news. Next week, we’ll interview Alexi Lalas to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Austin FC franchise launch, which is on January 15. The following week, we’ll interview Travis Clark as a preview for the MLS SuperDraft to be held on January 21.
