Redes/Dominguez in Copa Libertadores Action

Both Rodney Redes and Cecilio Dominguez got into the action for Gaurani in Copa Libertadores on September 17. Redes was a started, while Dominguez came on in the second half and made an immediate impact, helping lead the club to victory.

Austin FC Academy & MLS Next

The Austin FC academy kicked off their season as part of the rebranded MLS Next in fine form, picking up victories over San Antonio FC at all three levels. Friend of the show Phil West covered the matches for the club website. The Academy followed that showing with another strong performance on September 19, taking two of three from the Houston Dynamo Academy.

David Tenney: High Performance Director

Austin FC announced the hire of David Tenney as the club’s high performance director on September 9. Tenney returns to soccer after three years in a similar role with the Orlando Magic. Prior to that, he spent a decade in Seattle, building the Sounders program from the ground up. The club developed a sustained record of success during Tenney’s time in Seattle.

A Household Soccer Name Joins the Austin FC Broadcast Team

More than just a household name, Adrian Healey is a household voice for any soccer fan. The club announced the hiring of Healey as the executive director of broadcast content on September 16. Austin FC also published two videos featuring Healey’s welcome to Austin and first tour of the stadium.

Yedlin 2 Austin?

DeAndre Yedlin is in the final year of his contract and has expressed an interest in a return to MLS. Austin has been cited as a potential home for Yedlin should he return. Landon & Jeremiah discuss the upside and downside of this potential move.

Potential El Tri Players for Austin: Tom Marshall Interview

Landon & Jeremiah interviewed Tom Marshall, Mexican soccer writer for ESPN, about a potential list of Mexican National Team players who could be a fit for Austin FC . The list borrowed largely from a recent article by Sergio Tristan on the Los Verdes blog. Marshall discussed these players as well as other considerations for Austin FC.

Austin FC Supporters Groups Giving Back

Both Austin Anthem & Los Verdes are currently engaged in efforts to support the Austin community as a whole.
