Austin FC season ticket memberships are sold out for the club’s first year of play.
It was only a matter of time.
With more than 40K deposit holders on hand, it nearly guaranteed a sell-out of the 20,500-seat stadium. Methodically, Austin FC sold out each allotment of club, premium, supporters, and finally, general seats—all done with 7 months to spare before the club ever takes the pitch.
In an August 31 “Thank You” email from CEO Anthony Precourt, he told season ticket holders that Austin FC will officially enter its inaugural season with approximately 15,500 season ticket members.
Deposit holders that didn’t make the seat selection cutoff for 2021 season tickets can roll over their $50 to stay on the waitlist for priority access next year, plus get an early crack at single match tickets, as well as special event invitations, and merch discounts.
What’s the Scoop on Game Day Tickets?
If our math’s right, 25% of seats at McKalla Place will be available for match day sales. That’s about 5K open seats.
Prices haven’t been announced for these game day tickets, but they could cost $30 to $50; the range if annual general season tickets are broken down by number of home games.
Many could be even cheaper, since the lease agreement with the city calls for several thousand match day tickets to be free or below market rates.
We’ll say it now—the entire stadium will be sold out for all 17 home games in 2021.
Future Austin FC Stadium Expansion
Immediately after the ticket sell-out was announced, our first question was “Will Austin FC expand the stadium?”
Design plans accommodate for a future expansion of 1,500 seats on the North End. It likely won’t happen soon since the club is on a tight deadline to finish stadium construction by April 2021.
We could see them expand the stadium in an off-season a couple years down the road after several seasons of play are under their belt.
Ultimately, a sell-out year after year will come down to the quality of play on the field.
But a strong foundation to maintain a full house has been built.
