MLS is Back Tournament
The MLS is Back Tournament kicked off last week. In true MLS style, the Toronto vs DC United match was postponed on the second day after both Dallas and Nashville had to pull out due to Coronavirus concerns.
Austin FC Supporters Section Tickets on Sale
Austin FC season memberships for supporters went on sale on July 8. Demand was strong, but, as Andy Loughnane told Chris Bils, the process to sell out the section will take a few weeks.
The Supporters Groups of Austin FC
It wouldn’t be American soccer without a split in supporters groups. Phil talked to Landon and Jeremiah about the good and bad of it all, along with some advice for Austin Anthem, Los Verdes and others about how to work together successfully to create a positive game day experience for all Austin FC fans. For people wanting to learn more about supporters groups, Capital City Soccer has a handy guide to the SGs of Austin FC.
BONUS CONTENT – Austin FC Assistant Davy Arnaud
After the initial recording, but before publishing, Austin FC announced the hiring of assistant coach Davy Arnaud. Arnaud is a Texas native with a long history of MLS experience and a former teammate of head coach Josh Wolff.
MLS & Black Lives Matter
Led by the Black Players for Change, MLS players raised fists in support of Black Lives Matter for 8 minutes and 46 second prior to the first match of the tournament. Thierry Henry followed suit by kneeling for the same amount of time during the first match for his club.
