Austin FC is handing over the keys of its shiny, new team to Josh Wolff.

The former Columbus Crew and DC United assistant coach was officially hired as head coach of El Tree on Tuesday, his inaugural head coaching job.

Wolff brings the know-how to run the familiar style of play that made the Crew perennial MLS playoff contenders under the helm of Anthony Precourt and his front office.

After more than a decade as a player in the MLS, Wolff moved into coaching and was most recently the U.S. men’s national team top assistant coach, where he had a hand in the CONCACAF Gold Cup run, facing Mexico in the final.
