Countdown to 2021: Austin FC news for June 2019

We bring you the biggest Austin FC stories of the month including important news, tidbits, and the hottest links on the interwebs.

June 2019

30,000+ Season Ticket Deposits. We broke the Internet and still managed to set a Major League Soccer record for largest number of season ticket deposits in one day. You can read how the record-setting 24 hours unfolded here. Not only does it fill the stadium in 2021, but it provides momentum for everything from sponsorship deals to coach selection.

New Stadium Renderings. Whetting our appetite for placing season ticket deposits, the team released 10 new stadium renderings. While most images focused on premium seating options, the most interesting graphic to me was the outdoor Supporters Bar—complete with food truck (and beer brewing tanks???).

City Council Votes for Stadium Rezoning. After last year, I cringe when the words Austin City Council and Austin FC are mentioned together. But with very little fanfare, the council unanimously approved to rezone McKalla Place. It keeps things on track to start building the stadium this year.

Excel Sports Management Enlisted. Austin FC will look to this well-known agency to secure a jersey sponsor and stadium naming rights. Perhaps showing how hot the Austin market is, this deal broadens the sponsor search on a national and international scale.

Austin FC Makes Key Hires. Polo Aristoy joins as senior vice president of marketing and Tom Webb is tabbed as vice president of public relations and broadcast.
